Avid Elixir 5 bleed trouble

Hi,

I can't for the life of me remove the air bubbles from the caliper. When I create the vacum the air just seems to keep coming through. It doesn't seem to be coming from the seal, the bubbles are long and drawn out. It gets to a point where there is no more room to pull the syringe back.

Any tips or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You are holding the syringe upright when doing the bleeding yeah?(daft but genuine question). If you have to put less fluid in then bleed the caliper, close off the system again then bleed the rest of the system

keep bleeding as there is still air in there.

Push the pistons home fit the block and make sure the syringes are fitted with seals and tight.

    Thanks guys,

When you say keep bleeding, remove the syringe and repeat the whole process?

if you are getting to the end of the syringe then yes you will need to remove the syringe and de-gas again

well keep moving the fluid back and forth untill no more air comes out of the top bleed hole. DONT push any air back in when you do this.

    Thanks again,

Its strange the bubbles just seem to keep coming and they are long and drawn out i.e not little ones suspended in the fluid. Is it normal to have this much air in the system. Or does this sound more like a leak? Hmmm?

Sounds like something in they system isn't being closed off if it's still not working.
