Removing a bottom bracket with damaged splines

My housemate has been trying to remove a shimano internal bottom bracket today. On the non-drive side the plastic cup has been pretty stuck in and in trying to remove it (with the correct tool and a big spanner) has pretty much killed the splines. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove it now?

Seems pretty silly to use a plastic cup with such small splines to me...

No... dont you have to remove the plastic side first? Plus the other side is pretty stuck in too!

Had a go at that one too and it felt pretty stuck, didn't want to try too hard as could feel the splines slipping and didn't want to knacker those too. Any tips to get this side out (apart from that really fancy looking BB tool... which i want!)?

soak with plus gas and pray or take it to a man with the tools.

you may beable to clamp the toll in better using a rear Qr and some washers.

Had thought about the penetrating oil but i like the sound of the QR trick. May resort to taking to a shop though. Thanks very much for your advice!

Don't mash it up before you take it to the household, else there is no way for them to get it out either. If you can get the metal side out, you can carefully run a saw blade through the plastic side then it collapses inward on itself.
