Hi guys it's been a while since ive been on here but i could do with some help,
I've bought a second bike (proflex k2 beast) it has hope 3 brakes i think but i want to change them for the exact same brakes i have on my hardtail, but the rotor on the front of the bike is a 5 bolt 185mm rotor,so when the new brakes arrive which come with 6 bolt 160mm rotors i need to buy a doo dah to make the caliper fit the rotor but is that all i will need?

p.s i am a pleb. and also i will be selling the hope 3 brakes.

Cheers guys.

O.K the hope brake calipers have a 3 written on them and they are all silver iv'e no idea what model they are i just assumed.

the front disc has 5 bolts attaching it to the wheel and the rear disc has 6 bolts

They are hope hubs F and R.

    IS mounts

The new brakes will be shimano m575 i have them on my other bike they work for me and i can get cheap pads for them.

I take it i'm wrong in thinking that any caliper will fit any disc with the right adaptor.

    so you have 185/165 discs.

they could be any of 4-5 Hope calipers.

you may be stuck with the front disc as it may be a big un hub but hope have done other hubs that look like 5 bolt.

so you could find some 185/165 adaptors or space out a 180/160 adaptor.

    but without pics who knows.

right the front hub is the old Hope splined fitting. no alternatives that i know of.

same lever for the rear brake?

yeah exactly the same the front is mounted properly so that will stay but the rear is a complete bodge.

so same lever for the rear brake.

do you want a proper calliper mount for that swing arm? a mate may still have some in stock.

yes he did some FS and IS brackets for the Proflexes

I will see what he still has left.

but your front hub will be an issue. talk to Hope to see if they have any early splined rotors.

Just out of interest why would the front hub be an issue and are 5 bolt rotors rare?
oh and just to be a pain in the arse how much would this bike have retailed for?

it is NOT a 5 bolt rotor. re read what i have said.

It is an early Hope splined fit disc and hub. held in place by the lock ring with the 4 holes in.

o.k i didnt know, to be honest i'm a lorry driver with no experience of hubs and rotors for a mountain bike,i know you can change rotors by taking the bolts out and ther are 5 bolts, i didnt know that hope made splined rotor hub thingys that you cant just change, however now i am with you.
