As the title says really, my wife is five feet tall, she needs a new bike...does anyone have a small sl pro and a five foot tall person handy that they could try out for size?

There is a size guide on their site, they are also straight down the line with answering fitting questions etc, give 'em a bell

I would say it would be too big, primarily due to the length of the toptube - I'm 5 inches taller and would say the sizing is marginal for me in order to keep a sensible stem length and the saddle setback that I prefer. Fitting a 700c-wheeled bike for someone of your wife's stature gets tricky simply due to the size of the wheels, avoiding front wheel overlap and maintaining reasonable frame angles. I would seriously suggest looking at a Women's specific frame with 650c wheels rather than trying to compromise with a frame that is too big.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
