OK here goes after a long lay off from biking (over 20yrs ish)
This is the frame its all being re-designed around, a 99 Specialized FSR
And now as it is de-stickered
Its going to be a DH build so decent forks
The rear shock which will be accompnied by the GETD linkage that should be here in the morning to put the geometry back
Some more bits, XTR f and r mech, FSA Orbit extreme pro H/S
Wheelset DT Swiss X430 front specialized 25mm hub rear Deore QR hub
Brakes are Avid Juicy 5s with 203mm front rotor and 185 rear rotor
The rear triangle is away having the V posts removed and if possible the rear disc mount welded, but if this isnt possible I do have the A2Z disc mount which does a very good job on this frame.
Saddle is a Prologo Nano gel
Chainset is a Truvativ Ruktion
Not a lot left to buy now chain tyres and pedals

The paint scheme is going to be simple, white with a red and black pinstripe along the toptube and the Specialized decals in silver, the saddle is also in white with red and black pinstripe so wont look out of place.
I am doing the paint job myself as I was a car sprayer for over 10 years and can get it baked free, I am looking for a decent priced printer who can do me some decals though arond the Scunthorpe area if anyone knows some, anyway the prep begins on the frame tomorrow and hopefully I will post some more pics of the build if anyone is interested.0 -
That's not really a downhill frame, and the forks aren't really downhill kit either.... but looks like a nice build... just an odd frame to put it on....0

Sorry about my ignorance, but you do realise there are disc mounts on the frame right?
Otherwise looks like a top build!0 -

No disc mounts on the frame at all, only on the forks thats why I bought the A2Z.
The forks are not standard for this frame it was originally a V brake bike.
And yes its not a dedicated DH frame but after numerous emails back and forth from Specialized the frame is built exactly the same as the FSR DH of the 90s and strong enough in the headtube dept so I went for a retro build knowing all the components will transfer to another frame if disaster does rear its ugly head0 -
Actually its going to be more heavy trail XC and probably wont see a DH ever0

Ah not too bad. Just wanted to make sure you didn't come across a random surprise later on!
Personally I think more a "lightweight" build would be suited to it, but it's yours and if your happy with what you want to do with it, then by all means go for it.0 -
