Are CRC having major web security problems?

I've been purchasing from CRC for years, including several orders in the past few weeks, and yet nobody has fraudulant used my details to purchase a holiday or exclusive furniture items.
Not even O2 call time.
All in all, very very disappointing.
Can someone please tell me who I can complain to.0 -

I am the official CRC complaints dept. To lodge a complaint I need your full name, date of birth, account details, address and mothers maiden name.
Will then make sure you are not disappointed.I don't do smileys.

^^Don't trust him. You should give your details to me, so I can make sure he never gets his dirty little hands on them.0

I resent that. The correct term is '... grubby little hands....'I don't do smileys.

I'm afraid they've gone well beyond "grubby"0

And I can state with good authority that the size of ones hands bear no relation to other appendages.I don't do smileys.

Always use paypal if you can, it's a lot more secure.Smarter than the average bear.0 -
I hear if you walk into a "shop" they will supply you with said goods in exchange for cash money! No chance of fraud and you will be supporting a small business in potentially hard times! Plus they may just still be there (if everyone doesn't keep boycotting local bike shops) if you have a problem or would like said part fitted!
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BIKE SHOP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE, IT'S REALLY NOT THAT TOUGH! Who knows you may even partake in some human interaction!
Oh, I don't work in a bike shop either!0 -
Ok, thanks for that valuable input.
I hang my head in shame, I will stop buying things online immediately, even though they have a far wider selection then my LBS, at much better prices, can get stuff to my door much faster.
Best stop buying everything else online too. And had better not use supermarkets any more either.
Thank you for coming into this thread and showing us all the light!0 -
Erm, that doesn't get around this problem though does it?
I get a lot of things from my (absolutely amazing) LBS - Revolution bikes in Bangor. However, they don't stock everything under the sun, so I also buy things from wiggle and CRC.0 -
My pleasure! It's strange, I never buy anything online and yet seem to manage to get everything I need at a price I am happy with.
The fraud would never have occurred if you had gone to a shop!0 -
Unless you pay via credit card in a shop. I know plenty of people who had their cards used fraudulently before they'd ever bought anything online.0

Worst.
Argument.
EvAr!
The fraud wouldn't have occured if they'd used a different online shop either.
The fraud wouldn't have occured if they'd taken up crochet instead of MTB.
Or are you saying card fraud never happens in shops?
You really do come over as a bit of a tool.
By the way, I have 2 LBS, 1 caters more for roadies and is incredibly overpriced and snobbish. The other is fine, with average prices and an outstanding workshop. But they are a SMALL shop and can only deal with a couple of suppliers. They do their best, but hve to cater for the majority, which round here is £100-£400 bikes for kids and commuters, or the XC crew. Very little for people like me.0 -
I don't care how I "come over", nor do I care what you think! I've said my piece and I'm bored now! The End!0

Wow. Only 3 posts to confirm that you are that stupid0 -
Same situation here. Bank phoned me tuesday morning and informed me that my acc. had been frozen due to a purchase in an 02 shop of £15. At the time i thought it strange they had managed to clock fraud on such a simple transaction, but it has become clear.
CRC has received a disappointed Email, my acc. has be debited, i'm still waiting for a debit card (yes i used a debit card...:-(), and more importantly i will be very careful in the future with online purchases, which might mean not spending money with CRC again.
Am i able to send CRC the bill for my time with dealing with this? Time on the phone to the bank.... £** p/hr...... cost incurred from using other cards, and generally the hassle this has brought into my usually stress free existence?
I agree with the LBS comments..... the best service and shopping experience is always in your LBS.......
Edited to remove a figure which wasn't a true representation, and wasn't meant to be taken so literally.... Although it would be nice....

£40 per hour? How the hell do you work that one out?0

I assume that's what he's paid?
As for the "Use your LBS, they're cool dudes" argument. The people in my LBS are the ends of bells, why should I support them when they're grumpy and rude, and expensive!?0 -

Nor me, I'm just guessing that's where he's got it from!0 -
Now the only problem is if you draw cash to spend in an LBS who do you blame when you get mugged? The LBS or the mugger?I don't do smileys.

Its a question of how much you value your time, i wouldnt attempt to send a bill ( that would involve even more hassle and would be pointless) ... I was simply having a grumpy moment last night. I'm simply annoyed CRC haven't bothered to make the simplest of contact with me: a generatic email forewarning all customers would have been enough..??

Actually, I have sent bills to companies that have wasted my time and money, and they have paid up!
My Bank for leaving me on hold for excessive lengths of time, repeatdely, when they were charging for the call;
A claims company that was pursuing me for money I never owed for the 4th time, after I'd made it more than clear I wasn't responsible;
Insurance company I'd given change of address details to months before, but still sent mail to my old address meaning I had to go pick it up.
In this case I'd bill CRC for lost time working, I had to spend time on the phone to my bank to cancel the card and was late for work. I work on contract so no work = no paid.'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....0 -

A template email to send to CRC:
To whom it may concern,
Having made a purchase with you recently OrderID xxxxxxx , and the had fraud of x NO. £xx O2 vouchers being purchased on my Debit Card several days later (I have never used O2), along with a LOT of people, I would like some recompense for the time wasted having to deal with this.
For my having to take time calling my bank left me late for work, for which I will not be paid, for this I would request the payment of £xx for my valuable time being wasted.
For the stress this has introduced, having had my card cancelled by my bank and now not being able to access my bank account online or make payments of any kind including at my local supermarket to buy food for my family (Card No Worky No More!) I would also request the payment of another £xx.
Payment cannot of course me made against my now cancelled card, so I will accept a cheque, sent the address for delivery of my last order.
My bank will reimburse me the money stolen from my account due to your lax security, so I’m not claiming for that.
I’m sure as a valued customer who has spent rather a lot of money over the past few years, you have no problem with my request and with keeping my custom as a result of meeting it.
Regards,
ChuckCork.'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....0 -

One reason UK companies are more than happy to waste peoples time and money, they know they will roll over accept it. I don't and won't.

Stress? Late for work? You need to MTFU and plan your time better.
Oh, and I'm billing you for wasting my time by writing such drivel. £40 Should cover it.0 -

FFS, the way some people are going on, you'd think CRC arranged this on purpose.
Unfortunately, when buying things online, there is a certain degree of risk involved. There always has been. Merchants make their paysystems as secure as they can, but for every
To try and bill CRC for something that was pretty much out of their control and was at MOST, a very minor inconvenience to you is nothing more than petty.0
