Worn threads on crank arms

Just changing my pedals over from the naff things that came with the bike to some Superstar Nano's, but in the process noticed some wear on the crank arm threads. It's all on the outside of the crank (closest to pedal), and is heavier on the right than the left. The cranks are SR Suntour XCR.

The threads are fine on the inside of the crank, closest in to the bike. I assume this is normal wear from the strain of pedaling? Do I just stick the pedals on and keep going until the threads are completely shot, or do I risk damaging the pedals. I don't really want to invest in new cranks. Well I do, but my finances don't. If needs must I suppose

sounds like the pedals have been run lose.

if they are tight then dont worry.

that sgouldn't happen under normal conditions since pedals (or at least the ones I use now and in the past) have a shoulder that butts up against the crank.

If you can screw the pedals into the cranks, then continue to use them - apply some loctite thread lock to ensure they do not undo.

you shouldn't damage the pedals since the spindle us usually steel, sometimes hardened steel and the cranks are aluminium alloy so are much softer.

Assuming they are square taper? Good used crank arms can be had for as little as a fiver (I've picked up three sets) so not a biggy if you need new ones.
