Spied this over on Cakes.

One for the greens to get excited about - a 4x4 manufacturer changing tack. Wonder if it qualifies RR for a reduction in the average Co2 o/p across their range, as required by soem EU reg IIRC.

If Ferrari made a road bike, I'd understand.
If Range Rover made a mountain bike, I'd understand.

But a Range Rover road bike makes no sense to me.

There was a schort interview in C+ a bit ago I think it was with the design boss. Big cyclist and Bianchi lover, he said this was in to pipline

EDIT: I should have read the article, it's all in there really innit, apart from the bianchi bit

I was expecting a full war disc brake, dual suspension, damage the Earth knobbled tyre mountain bike complete with a seat cover made out of fox fur....

I'm surprised and wierdly dissapointed that I'm presented with an elegant and really attractive road bike.... me likey...

Land Rover bikes have been around for yonks (were built by Claude Butler as was obvious if you looked at the pics), I guess it being a road bike (the others were MTB/tourers mostly) fits in with the new Evoque (or WAG-oque as I'm sure it will be) being available in front wheel drive only car.

Why showcase a new road bike with a discontinued ShimaNO groupset?

agree with DOnDaddy, an Alfa Bianchi should be a thing a beauty - difficult to see how they could make it uglier - whats with the non matching wheels?

Campag Bora carbons - Have a look at the spoke patterns on your bikes wheels (if you have a road bike) - you will see they are different. Rear wheel carries more weight. keeps front nice and light too.

Don't worry about it - Ferrari make MTBs as well as road bikes........ Saw them in the truly ghastly Ferrari shop in Milan a few weeks ago. Wierdly cheap spec in some respects irrc.

Identical front and back is probably bad design! Lots of Campag wheels and other makes have different spoke patterns front and rear.

That Range Rover bike looks suspiciously like one of those ebay carbon frames (carbonzone??) with a paint job to me :!:

Yeah, I liked the "...but this is no ordinary bike..." - err, well it kind of is CF has been used in bikes for years. And some of the components are colour matched to the frame  Wowzer! What will they think of next.

    In short: pfffft.

Land Rover make a bike. My former boss (a bit of a petrolhead) bought one for the name. It's a rather good folding mountainbike.

The nice bit is, he started riding it to work and caught The Cycling Bug.

Just as well - his driving is terrible.

I think the range rover bike looks cool. Nothing revolutionary but a damn sight better than those other car manufacturer's attempts.

an inanimate object can not by definition be a menace. the menace comes from the yummy mummies driving them ( the term driving is used very loosley here) .

    Does not look bad.

Though I do not like the idea of integrated seatposts... don't you have to get it right 1st time? What if you cut it too short? :S

well no. A feather cannot be a menace. A 3-tonne high-speed assault vehicle with a superpowered engine certainly can.

since when did the typical Range Rover ever go off-road?

So very true. A mate of mine has a Vogue and when I asked him why he wanted a 4x4 he said its because he parks on a grass driveway!

I've done an off-road driving course and what those cars are capable of is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Using a Range Rover for the school run is as bad as using an Enzo for the weekly Waitrose run.

The wrong tool for the job. Complete overkill.

Yup, and you can only sell it on ebay to people with the same length legs.
