Missing clamp bolt on stem

I have taken delivery of a pretty nice preowned singlespeed brought on ebay.
Unfortunately in transit the Allen bolt that clamps the bars on the stem has gotten lost (pinch bolt?)
Been into Evans at lunchtime and they dont stock such bolts. Guy suggested Wickes or other DIY shop.
Trouble is if I dont get a replacement bolt and I go down the route of a new stem then it seems the only way to get the bullhorn bars out of th existing stem (Control Tech btw) is to untape the bars, take the brakes off and unthread the bullhorns as the clamp on the stem dosent open wide enough to pull out the bars.
Anyone suggest where I can get this elusive bolt? Because I dont have the old one it's hard to know what size to get or even what to ask for (Hexagonal bolt, Allen Bolt, Pinch bolt etc)
Many thanks

Best bet is probably ebay or somewhere like the retrobike or LFGSS forums where someone will more than likely be selling an old stem. You should be able to pick up a 'cosmetically challenged' one fairly cheaply and then cannibalise it to get the part you need.....0

any lbs will have one that will fit in a spares box its just a hex bolt, probably 5mm, but needs to pinch the bars so you don't want alloy. you might have to shorten it if the thread comes through too far, but a stainless steel hex bolt is cheap as chips!Colnago Addict!0

Thanks guys!
Unbelievably Halfords had one. A very helpful EMO type with pink hair took me to a wall of spares. I took two potentials and one of the packs fitted.
Commutted in wih no gears this morning...love it
Thanks again

Why unbelievably?
Seems pretty logical to me. Shop sells bikes. Shop also sells packs of bolts for general use. Shop has mechanic. Mechanic gives bloke standard 5mm standard thread bolts out of box.
Don't always beleieve the trash you read on the 'net - Halfords are no better or worse than some of the other shops out there.
At least they had the bolts, unlike Evans and their non pink hair staff (as if it matters), which I must admit is a bit worrying ......0
