looks good! great to see deore becoming a really fully fledged group that's a totally viable upgrade...I like bikes and stuff0

Deore has for the last 10 years been the groupset that people see as the entry level into 'real' MTB components, and has often been the test bed for higher end groupsets. Thing is Alivio is pretty good too (even Acera), and is good to see we still have plenty of 9 speed options. I wish there was more 8 speed as well.0

It will do for Deore up in a couple of years I reckon, but like with 8spd, spares will be available for ages from retailers.
WIth Alivio and Altus being 9spd now, it should be around for a long time. And these groups are probably tougher and better functioning than XT from 10 years back, albeit heavier.0 -
I take it that its only the rear end thats changing? Current cranksets are compatible with 10sp cassettes/gearing?
and a 10sp cassette will fit on current 9sp wheels?0 -
The new 10spd Deore gets the full dynasis treatment - new rings, shifters, mechs and cassette, none of it which is compatible (apparantly) with 9 speed stuff. WMB testing reports the chains and chainsets to seemingly work fine on 9spd and vice versa.
The freehub spacing is the same though, so will fit on existing wheels.
Hopefully yours truly will be testing it out this year for WMB0 -
supersonic Whats the deal when you test this stuff? do you get to keep it or hand it back once you've done a few rides on it?
I have been looking at upgrading my Crank and came accross the new 10sp ones and they say that there not compatable, i just cant see how they cant be?? the chain i know is slightly thinner but were talking tiny tiny difference?
The link i came accross yesterday (in buying advice) for the full SLX 10sp groupset for 199 euro's is a bargain, i think. but i dont ness want a tripple up front??
