biggest 7 speed cassette on a road bike

My brother has a 7 speed carrera tdf, his cassestte is a 25, i plan to change his cassette and chain to make it a bit easier for him on the hills.

What is the biggestt cassette i can fit on? I will be changing the chain also but dont want to change the rear mech- best i think i can find is a 12-28.

    It will depend on what rear mech he has.

    My guess is it wil be a Shimano rear mech of some kind, and you should be OK with a 28t sprocket.

    Is it a cassette / freehub or a screw-on freewheel?
