Hi guys,

Right, I'm really stumped with this one.

I need some forks for my Cove Shocker build and am completely stuck between these two.

I've ridden both, but spent more time on the Teams. At the moment, my preference is with the 40's.....but......the Shocker is a super stiff frame and the 40's aren't as forgiving as the Teams, so I've got this feeling in the back of my mind that the Teams would be more suited to the stiffer frame.

However, there's a couple of other things to consider:

I can get a brand new set of 2010 Teams sent over from the US for the same price I will pay for a decent 2nd hand set of 40's.

I've got a Cane Creek Double Barrel out back, and I'm getting mixed reviews as to what fork will suit it best.

The bike is going to be used for nothing but DH. I want stiffness without it being harsh. Something I can maintain myself would be a bonus, and i'm already pretty comfortable with most RS forks.

I know how these threads often go, so can I respectfully ask that the fanboy responses are kept to a minimum? Obviously if you own a set of 40's those are best to you and vice versa if you own Boxxers.

What i'm looking for is real world experience (i.e. not pushing down on your mate's forks in a car park) of both fork preferably.

Thanks

From what you have said, you have practically talked yourself into the Teams lol, so I would go for that. They aren't quite as stiff, but very adjustable and easy to service.

Personally i have never used either, however if the service guidelines are as strict for the 40's as the are for the other forks in the fox range, i'd be tempted by a boxxer.

ha ha, yeah it does come across like that. :)

I think the issue is, that I want 40's, but have realised that they are probably not the most suitable fork :?

brand new forks would be better tbh. used 40s(unless you are lucky) would have been hammered and i have already seen 3 sets bent by my friends, not really a good sign. and then there is the servicing issues, it's fine if your on a team and you get them serivced for nothing. basically it seems that the 40s are more of a race fork than the boxxers which are more like everyday forks, and that is why you should go for the boxxers
