hi

I'm going to be doing the MBLA qualification with a view to leading bike tours here in the Swiss alps and just over the border in the Portes du Soleil. Right now I ride a Stockli (local Swiss brand) hardtail and it's fine but a little heavy and as I'll probably be doing more alpine stuff I thought it I'd get full suspension bike but I'm all at sea when I start to look at what's around and I can't really tell the difference between a lot of models.

I'm going to be in the UK in May and I'm thinking of buying a new bike there, I can get it VAT free and the exchange rate is good so I can probably get a good deal compared to buying here. I think the budget is around 1500 GBP. For example I'd seen the Specialized Pitch FSR Pro 2011 Mountain Bike or the Ghost AMR 5700 2011 Mountain Bike which seemed to be the sort of thing.

Does that roughly look like the sort of thing for mainly alpine riding and MBLA?

thanks!!
