old newbie returns to mtb after 10 years

Hi all im andy returning to mtb after 10years last ride was a alpinestars cromega lx, have a custom gt chucker but want to do more xc ,looking for a frame to build up any help please

    Welcome welcome, Alpinestars cromega? I'm guessing that's something found on retrobike?!
    Are you after a crash course in modern frames? You've got a choice of Aluminium, Steel, Carbon Fibre, Titanium, Scandium, Bamboo... Though each supposedly has it's own characteristics I think they are only noticable 'on the edge' and most on here will agree that the frames characeristics have more to do with angles and tube manipulation.

    They don't do Bamboo but they are British. They might make a nice oak bike one day.
