Evening. I'm looking at buying a carbon road bike. I will need it for the Marmotte and some racing. I'm looking for something not massively mainstream, but i want it to be good quality and reliable......!! I can probably stretch up to 2.5k if the right bike came along....
Please suggest away.....

Focus Izalco from Wiggle, great bike or maybe a Cannondale Super Six, decisions, decisions!0
-
Guerciotti have some nice bikes on planet x, Cube Agree but cube are pretty mainstream these days0
-
cayo ultegra from wiggle and lots of change0
-
Kouta Kharma, just because I've got one 8)
Looks and goes like a dream, fairly exclusive, and WELL within the £2K budget0 -
The new Engima Eikonic looks good (looks very much like the Cinelli Willin frame - and NO it's not the PX pro carbon frame) - you get to choose spec which is a great thing.

Shop around and go wild.. Maybe an Orbea Orca, you dont see many of those around. Or maybe a Scott Addict ?
I am planning the exact same shopping expedition but not until September !!
Or from out of the nowhere.. How about a Canyon, would rather ride that than be seen 8 stone overweight wearing jawbones riding a focus, apparently that is a popular look.0 -
So much choice!!!
Can only comment on the focus (for now), but good options available to you:
Cannondale super-six, Caad 10 (matt black, hmmmmm), Canyon, Focus cayo/izalco. Whatever you choose you should get a good setup!
Canyons are quality bikes by all accounts (some similarity to cervelos )
Good luck and enjoy shopping!!
PS: I am not 8 stone o/weight and dont own jawbones !!!
(although 8 stone o/weight with jawbones on a focus would look much the same as on a canyon, but at least they are out there riding )2012 Scott Foil 10 (Shimano dura ace) - in progress
2011 Cervelo S2 (SRAM Red/Force)
2011 Cannondale Caad 10 (Shimano 105)

This months C+ has a bike of 2011 supplement for bikes under £2,000. The Storck Scenero won if you're interested.Road - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=12777154&p=16943702#p16943702

+1 for the Cube range as an option. Don't really think they have become too mainstream and their bikes look fantastic with a great spec for the money.
Examples at the sub £2K price point is the Cube Agree GTC Race
http://www.cube.eu/en/road/pro-composit ... -gtc-race/
This has full Ultegra set up.
Further up the price range is the Litening HPC Pro which comes in at close to £2.5K. Again a great looking bike for the money.

Must add that I don't work for Cube or any dealer they use in the UK. Just salivating a bit for the time when I can afford to upgrade to one.0 -
If I was spending 2K on a bike this would be my purchase, £119 over budget but beg steal or borrow the extra
http://www.canyon.com/_uk/roadbikes/bike.html?b=2114It’s the most beautiful sport in the world but it’s governed by ***ts who have turned it into a crock of ****.0 -
I like the look of that canyon ultimate cf 9.0 also wicked. Could be very tempted when the time comes.. .0

Also non-mainstream and very good VFM is http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/
So plenty of choices for you - which can be a problem in itself
Personally I expect to buy a Canyon but still keep looking at second hand Colnago C50's :roll:Kev

That's a 5 year old Isaac frame
I've no idea if that is a good or bad thing.
I've not read anything bad about their bikes though.Kev

Cheers for all the replies.
Kuota no good as my mate rides one.
Canyon seem like really good deals, but give it 6-12months and everyone will be on them.
Storck i like the look of... could get rather expensive v'quickly.. worth a closer look though
The search will still continue.....i'll look into orbea and orca + scotts + cannondales....

Most people will recommend their own bike - so I will do the same :-)
You can get a 2010 Wilier Izoard for 2k, leaving a bit of money to upgrade the wheels. A good compromise between comfort and speed.0 -

What about the Red Bull bikes on that website? They seem to offer good value, groupset wise
HAs anyone here seen/ ridden one of them?0 -
Take a bad frame stick on a good groupset. to the un educated looks good value
It is still a bad frame. If I took a £200 frameset and stuck Dura Ace on it it is NOT good valueRacing is life - everything else is just waiting0 -
