Route advice - Canary Wharf/Tower Hill to Hammersmith

So I've got a decent enough route for my home to work commute from Richmond to the Wharf. Now I need to work out the best way of getting to my rowing club, which is on the river just to the west of Hammersmith Bridge. Any suggestions? I was thinking Embankment to Nothumberland Ave, up round Trafalgar Sq, Mall, Constitution Hill, then either along the south of the park or Kensington Road through to Ken HS then down into Hammersmith. Does anyone do this or a similar route? Any pointers or places to avoid/take a shortcut?

Lwr Thames, Embankment, PS, Millbank etc & follow it all the way through to Fulham Road, Dawes, Lillie, Fulham Palace Road... then you can nib round the back of the Apollo to avoid the H'smith gyratory

Everyone on here swears by Embankment/Chelsea Embankment to get SW as it flows quickly and is reasonably wide.

Pufftmw, thanks, that's pretty much the route I take back to Richmond, turning off at NKR. Will try both and see how it goes.
