Cateye strada double wireless and second bike?

I have a Cateye strada double wireless on my road bike (has speed/cadence sensor on rear of bike), and I've just won an auction for a cross bike, which I will also use to commute. Because second bike kits for the strada double wireless are like £70 (!) - can I not just buy a cateye strada wireless second bike kit for £26.99 and just lose the cadence function? Will it work?

    If you are prepared to lose the cadence function then for the same price you could get a cateye velo wireless and not have the faff of swapping computers between bikes.
