Giant XTR to full suspension

I'm new to the world of mountain biking and having bought my Giant XTR two years ago, I really like the thought of upgrading to a full suspension bike. However, I'm not sure I can justify forking out a couple of grand for a bike.
I'm toying with the ideal of purchasing a second had full sus frame and using the components on my XTR. Having never done this before I'm looking for some advice.
Firstly, would you recommend it? Secondly, are there any full suspension frames you can recommend?
