Replacing '02 RockShox Sid Rear shock or just get a HT?

I currently have a Scott G-Zero P1 Frame (Reba race Folks, Shimano XT/LX mixed gears and brakes (Hydraulic disc). RaceFace Evolve Cranks). It is a project bike I have been riding over the last year. It rides ok but I'm not digging it as much as my old bikes.

I've been mulling over replacing the rear sus with one that locks out or just getting a HT frame and starting another project.

Thoughts?

  • What exactly do you want from the bike? What riding do you do?

Personally i would just buy a new shock with lockout, an rp2 or something. Full sus is always nice to have in my opinion

Maybe try get another frame including shock if it ain't working for you, seems pointless spending a chunk of cash on a bike you ain't getting on with.

  • @ Mountain Monster - I'm XC when I get the chance but right now 70% of my riding is on roads about town.
As to what I want from my bike, I want it to feel like an extension of my body.

@ TheL33ter - Eitehr way it's going to cost me to fix. a Decent rear shock will be 200 notes and a HT frame will be same. I'm tempted to build up another Merlin Malt 2 or a Scott YZ.

I think my FS days are over for the time being.
I Have ordered a Merlin Malt 2 frame, I've had one in the past and know it will fit the bill.

As long as you are happy with your purchase, and feel good with it, then good on you man!
