Front fork: RockShox Reba SL, 120mm travel, Motion Control damping, lockout & 20mm Maxle Lite.
Rear: RockShox Monarch 3.1 Air shock with adjustable rebound & compression damping.

I'm trying to now setup my shocks for the first time, after months of riding the bike on the original (probably wrong) store setup. I've weighed myself, with a full Camelpak and I'm 91Kgs  (A lot of water and heavy clothes!)

I've downloaded the RockShox manuals and it mostly makes sense, but some of it is a bit beyond my experience of knowing the relationship between the ground terrain and sock response (if I've explained that correctly).
I've set the air pressures on both shocks to the manual, which is significantly higher than they were.

Now on the rear shock, I've got a rebound damping adjustment (red wheel) and a floodgate adjuster (gold wheel). This is where it all starts getting a bit vague and down to user preference. Any tips with setting this or do I just settle for about midway on both? The manual gives an example of how to setup both, which I'll try tomorrow, but I was wondering if there was a sort of a recommended setting for a beginner who would prefer comfort.

On the front shock, I've set both the top positive air pressure and the bottom negative pressure to be equal at 135psi, which is correct for 90kg rider weight. This is about 35-40psi more than it was! Now I've got the rebound to set on the bottom red adjuster. Do most people had this midway? I have played around with this before, so I'm happier finding the balance on this, as the differences were noticeable. But I found it took a long time of tweaking and getting off the bike on rides to get right. Any tips to speed this up?
Next is the motion control adjuster with the internal floodgate adjustment. What I'm still not sure about is when I should be adjusting the motion control/lockout when on a ride. I only ride cross-country, mostly on rough bridal ways that are chewed up by horses or tractors.
As for the floodgate, the manual says this fine tunes the 'Lock' setting and sets the blow-off threshold, which I don't understand. It recommends that heavier riders choose a maximum floodgate setting.
Any advise to getting these about right or tips to achieve this will be appreciated.

set the pressures to give the sag YOU want. set the rest to what feels right for YOUR riding and the trails you are on.

see the FAQ about dual air RS forks.

rebound depends on you. but you dont want to be bounced off.

MoCo if you want to it is a very personal thing.

go session a section and adjust as needed.
