I wasn't really sure which forum to post this in, but can anyone recommend me a campsite near Bourg d'Oisans?

This isn't (purely) for cycling purposes but for a family holiday, and therefore needs to have reasonable amounts of space, a swimming pool and preferably some kind of games for kids, e.g. tennis, or table tennis. Last year we stayed in a great camp site in Vizille, but this meant that nearly every day we drove into Bourg, so I'd like to find somewhere a bit further East.

I know there are a couple of sites in Bourg itself, but can anyone tell me if they have enough space for a family holiday (its a big tent!)

Thanks.

In my experience the Camping Qualité scheme is pretty reliable:

or to search for other camp sites

  • Thanks both, I'll follow those up.

I’ve stayed in Camping Piscine a couple of times (2009 & 2010). It’s on l‘Alpe d’ Huez itself – right at the bottom. and is a really nice site, all of the pitches are tree covered, and it’s wonderful to dive into a cool swimming pool after la Marmotte. Pitches are nice and big - ours had enough space for my van and two 3 man tents - and they do have a table tennis table.
  • I could recomend the the following campsite in Venosc, particularly for cyclists with a family http://www.champ-du-moulin.com/ which is just up the road from our place. This valley leads off the main valley where you find Bourg d'Oisans, so is close to the bottom of the Alpe d'Huez and the Galibier. The valley itself winds into the Ecrins National Park up to La Berarde, which is a lesser know ride, but one of the most breathtaking rides in the area. Local to the campsite is an open air swimming pool, crystal clear river, rafting, tree top adventure course, tennis and a gondola up to the other mountain resort of Les Deux Alpes.[/url]

Thanks for that. In the end, I booked with the one back in Vizille, but this one looks good, and it has prompted me to make sure that this year we take the cable car up to les Deux Alpes.
