Can't find much info on these brakes online.
I have a Boardman Team Carbon that came with R580 brakes. Halfords were replacing the rear brake but they sent the wrong one, so they instead sent a pair of SRAM Rival Brakes

Any idea how the new compare to the old? Have I got a good deal by having them replaced (free) or are the R580's any better?

if they sent two free its quite a good upgrade. better brakes, also completes the group a little more. they put tektro which arent too bad on there to cut the costs. same with the crank, its decent but not rival, its sram s350 the arms are solid rather than hollow. be very pleased with yourself.0

You've got a good deal there. The tektros are fine though but the standard brake pads that come with R850's on the Boardman are rubbish.Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0

Was free, warranty rear caliper replacement but they sent the wrong replacement, so they reordered the pair of Rivals. New brakes came with SRAM branded SwissStop pads too.
On he short pootle trip home (no lights, no proper shoes, badly inflated tyres = pavement pootling) the brakes did seem pretty instant compared to before.
