  • Muddy - but it is Hamsterley in February.........

Did most of the trails on the North side of the forest today as well as going on to the moor for the Doctor's gate descent. Weather was great and had a decent ride apart from a few boggy bits.

Parts of Doctor's gate have been seriously hacked up by our 4 x 4 friends and it'll be a while before a decent line reappears. Still largely rideable though.

Most of the first part of the Black was fine - the muddy/rooty section alongside the wall after the Root 666 climb (now fortunately a switchback, rather than straight up the hill) was tough but do-able. Didn't try the unofficial extension to Star Wars, as that looked really messy.

Transmission and Accelerator were fine though the Rabbit Run was a boggy mess and best avoided.

Didn't do Section 13 but this has been really badly affected by the frost and was very cut up a couple of weeks ago, so's best avoided for now. Special K and Brain Freeze were fine then though.

There's a "Hands off Hamsterley" rally at 11 am tomorrow - we don't really believe the Government u-turn on the sell-off and we've heard that the original prposals have generated quite a bit of interest from commercial buyers
