[Moved from 'Your Road Bikes' forum]....

Are there any Planet X Nanolight owners out there who can advise on tyre choice, please. This is for the original 'pre-High Modulus' Nanolight frame, where tyre clearance was tighter than for the current High Mod spec.

Is anyone running 23mm tyres on the original Nanolight and, if so, which ones fit and are there any that definitely don't?

Thanks in advance for any advice (unless its 'buy a Ribble/Boardman/Raleigh 20 instead'....)

  • Thanks Dave, much appreciated. Very good deal.

Actually I don't have a PX yet - I'm looking for a frame to build up a new bike. Really like both the SL Pro and the Nano but the groupsets on the complete bikes currently available don't really float my boat (looking for 105 or Ultegra).
  • I was running 23mm Bontrager Race X lites on my original nanolight and there was clearance for those but can no longer get those in my LBS. I took advantage of the PX upgrade offer and was looked after by Dave and his crew with a very good compromise.
on a nanolight guru frameset. which arrived in Aus in just over a week from point of sale.
I had also got from them some Veloflex corsa 22mm tyres which are superb to the point I may even keep them on my guru for racing. a little more expensive perhaps, but very light and extremely supple very happy with my PX and more than happy with the customer service every time Ive purchased from them. When the guy who owns the place personally answers my emails then it shows they care about the customers. Nothing wrong getting their frame and putting your groupset on it. I run sram force as supplied by my LBS so every one gets something out of the deal, PX me and my LBS.
cant speak highly enough of PX for me

@swanseadave, I recently bought an SL pro with ultegra, although the crank is an FSA gossamer, can't fault it though.
  • Thanks guys,

This is quite an old post and I ended up buying an SL Pro and building it up with 105. Great bike. See:
