Surely you can use any old chain whip if you stick it on the largest sprocket?? Or get one of the grip type things like a giant pair of pliers; Pedros vice whip or something like that I think it's called.

Or wait till you wear out an 11 sp chain and then turn it into your own chain whip with a bit of steel bar and a bit of DIY?

Pedros' Vise Whip is THE best tool I have bought in the last 2-3 years. Fantastic tool!

But he wants an 11 sp Campag whip! Don't deny him that pleasure.

Good though it may be, I've just noticed the price of Pedro's nifty gadget.

The OP did specify "Cheaper the better"

the pedros is winning at the minute. but now does it clamp to the cassette as it just looks like a moded pair of mole grips. thinking a pair of mole grips and some rubber may do the job

    You might be right.
@ giant mancp: does the Pedro's thing have profiled jaws to match the teeth on the sprockets, or is it just a squidgy grippy type thing??

OK, I've googled for pictures of the thing. Looks like the jaws are slotted, so the sprocket teeth go inside them and engage pins which mean it cannot slip / rotate. Pretty neat.

It adjusts to whatever size cog you want it to, lovely tool like I say, substantial and well made. It's more of less guaranteed not to slip off the sprockets when undoing the locknut. Lovely stuff.

No doubt cheaper than an 11 speed Campag chain whip. And how long before 12 speed?
