I was sittin around thinking bout someof the bikes ive had over the yrs when i remembered a bike a friend of a friend used to own. It was around the same time i had my alpine stars cro mega dx so probs around 90-91.
All i can remember about it was that it was a marin with elevated chainstays, rigid forks (perhaps obvious) and a red (possiblty with white parts) frame. I cant remember the exact spec either but i get a vague feeling it was xomething like XT or DX gears but i could be wrong, its bin a long time now!!!
Ive spent some time on google tryin to find it but that was a fast road to nowhere unfortunately.
Im sure someone else must remember the biek aside from me, HELP!!!! :?

Try asking on the forum here http://www.retrobike.co.uk/, afraid my own Marin is a fairly modern 1997 :-)http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

Marin never did e-stays in that era...::'11 Pitch Pro::0

Marin didn't do elevated chainstays...
In fact I recall Alpinestars (Cro-mega and Al-mega frames); Nishiki (Alien); Ozone and Bigfoot (perhaps not as early 90/91) and I think Kestrel...Proflex I think came in around 93-ish and did have rigid forks (as they had the flexstem).
Those are the only 'big' names I can recall that did elevated stays on bikes around that time...The Quest for Singletrack is Endless...0 -

Crikey yes, Saracen did some elevated stuff but I think it didn't come in until 93...might have been the same year they offered the Eiger (as a Halfords-only model I think?)The Quest for Singletrack is Endless...0

You signed up to Retrobike DickBarton? You sound like you know your old School bikes a fair bit & sound like a typical Retrobiker (I'm one so that's not an insult!)0 -
i've always wanted a Pace RC2000

I've got a Pace RC-200 F8...happy to send pics but it sits in the garage looking very sorry for itself...nostalgia and a dream of mine keeps me from selling it.
No, not signed up to Retrobike...I'd end up loosing my job and life if I did...I try very hard not to get drawn into it either as it would be a seriously time consumer if I did.The Quest for Singletrack is Endless...0
