hi guys,
just after a bit of advice - i've got a Giant Anthem X3 2009 spec, currently running 100mm tora's,
I've just seen some dual air rebas online for what looks a bargain price, but will the extra 20mm of travel cock up my geometry?
I tried this on an old bike and completely ruined its climbing!
cheers

Hi,
Got the exact same bike and fitted 120 recons and it works a treat, I had to fit it with no spacers under the stem to keep the front low as I had also swapped the flat bars for risers. I suppose you could flip the stem too if it still feels too high. Reducing stem length to 90mm and fitting wide risers really suited the new fork length and really allows you to let the bike go on the down hill sections without compromising the ability to climb in a straight line.I'm very responsible, whenever anything bad happens they always say I am responsible.....0 -
Have a look at the warranty. Fitting different size suspension may make the warrranty not valid.Giant XTC SE 2006

Extended the Rebas on my 2009 X3 to 120mm by removing the internal spacer. The climbing is slightly compromised (although not hugely) but on the downs it transformed the handling for me - felt much more surefooted.
Depending on which Rebas they are you will may be able to put a spacer back in to return them to 100mm if you don't like them at 120mm - then you still have some better and lighter forks!0 -
Ditto - have a 2009 X3 with barely anything at all standard - maybe just the top cap and the shock!
I have some fairly ancient, but rebuilt and serviced Revelations that almost always run at 115 - 120mm (never longer) and make the world of difference over keeping them at 100mm on the downs. Stick some 120mm forks on, a short stem, wide low rise bars and you'll have a wail of a time. Regarding the warranty, my LBS - a Giant dealer - I'm pretty sure said you're ok at 120mm.
I have some 120mm Rebas on the 456 and am sorely tempted to swap them over for the Revs and save a little weight too.|> Save money on purchases from CycleStore, Wiggle, Merlin, Evans, Chain Reaction, Halfords and more - click here (or PM me with questions)0
