Couldn't get my foot in the pedal due to a stone getting embedded in sole of shoe near cleat - had to faff about and find suitable tool in the rain to force it out
Got wet through 'waterproof' clothing

Front (SKS) mudguard inexplicably snapped off - the metal bracket for the fork broke away from the plastic guard. Looked beyond repair - binned.
Sudden loud whooshing sound 10 minutes later - it was the front wheel deflating
Discovered (only) spare tube has a hole on it
Patch didn't stick first time around
Just about avoided a heavy duty telescopic fishing pole that someone had layed across the width of the towpath while they took a leak - it was getting dark and was a foot off the ground
Get home and realised the spare jersey I thought I'd put in my bag was dropped in the garden and was now soaked through
Realised my spare clothes I'd packed in my pannier were soaked from the bottom upwards
Had wet feet and mud in face from lack of mudguard

This is why more people don't cycle to work :(
