A few shifter/gear questions

I've noticed that my gears sometimes fail to shift between the 4th and fifth sprocket when the crank is in the middle position.

Also my shifter indicators (which tell me what gear am in) aren't really aligned, the pin seems to be in the middle of gears. Sort of like 4.5 instead of 4 or 5.

Can any of the above problems be fixed? Thanks

Without some detail, the first gears need indexing, the second probably not.

  • Ok, the bike has 24 gears, was second hand. The seller said all cables were replaced last September.

    You mean indexing like this?

I didn't follow the link as it says front dérailleur but find the one for rear and yes.
But details like what bike, shifters, mech, etc help.
Could also be chain, lubrication, mech hanger, dirty cables, etc,
