Oakley Jawbones - Buying new 'jaws'?

edited October 2013 in Road buying advice
After almost two years of thinking they are the best looking glasses, I've finally taken the plunge and ordered a pair.

Do any of you know where I can buy new jaws from? I'd like to have different colours to swap about.

As far as I am aware (and I think this question has arisen on the forum before) you cannot replace the jawbone portion of the glasses alone. I wish it were not the case, it would be nice to change the look every now and then.
  • you could buy a tin of humbrol paint?
they come in hundreds of colours and are about £3.00

Give Oakley cust services a call on 01462 475400. They are about £16 posted. They have white (matt & gloss), black, red and something else (can't remember).

Finally got round to phoning up - very helpful and I now have Matt White andSilver Jaws on route to me from US. £10 each plus £6 postage. Pimp My Jawbones! Why pay Oakley double prices for a custom set when you can do it yourself!

The Oakley custom service allows you to play round with all the variables (lens/frame/jaws/hinge bolt/icons/earsocks/nose piece. All you may be doing is changing the jaws

It was a loose comment. Obviously the full custom option gives you a plethora of choices but you pay for the privelidge.

Maybe I am just feeling a little smug as I paid £70 for mine from eyewear outlet!

Official retailer of Oakley seconds but when I bought they were able to pick out a perfect pair for me. No noticeable defect at all. Bought jawbones and radars.

But they stopped doing the seconds range at Xmas. Worth contacting them tho. See what they've got.

Glad I'm browing far back today!

So what is the full deal with ordering from above? Its a UK number but they ship from the US?

    £10 for all colours?

Wonder how much other replacement parts are. I fancy matt black jaws to go with my red frames.

PS, these look cool as, depending on frame colour.

It's Oakley uk but all products are sent from US. Got mine this week and the new Matt silver jaws on my Matt black frame looks awesome!

I worried that it might be hardwork phoning Oakley and asking them for new jaws but they are totalling geared up for people ordering accessories and parts so it was really simple.

If anyones interested im buying some of the jaws from someone in canada the jaws themselves are £12 but shipping is either $15 for slow shipping of between 2/3weeks or $40 for ups world saver which is between 1/3 days.
Im wondering if anyones interested in a group buy where we split the shipping?
Lots of colours available feel free to ask and I'll see if there available.

    Cheers, Joe

I know this is a thread resurrection but no-one loves a re-post. I want to change the colour of the O's on my jawbones and the bolt that holds the jaw in to luminous yellow to match my northwave shoes (Call me a tart but it might as well be co-ordinted) The back has some fancy bolt, is it a star drive fixing or a special Oakley one? Also does it undo or is it like a rivet? Don't want to break it!
    Cheers

Thanks, didn't want to break it!
  • Just in case anyone in the UK decides they would like replacement Jaws then dont bother ringing Uk customer services as they wont provide.
The advice received from their customer service rep was unbelievable.....
"We have never provided them and don't offer this service. I can sell you a replacement frame at a discounted price but your best alternative is to paint the frames, or buy some fake ones of Ebay or Amazon or from Asia"

At that point I put the phone down and have sent an email to Oakley America as clearly the parts & service are available from there and the response from the UK Service centre is questionable on every count.

That is pretty appalling, I remember going in to the lakeside store to buy a new lense for my MX goggles, they bugged the shoot out of me trying to get me to buy stuff and when they sold me the wrong one they wouldn't let me return it. have since bought all my Oakleys in the US!
  • Response from Oakley USA

Thank you for your email. I apologize for the negative experience, and I wish I knew why an Oakley associate would suggest that. We do not recommend the purchase or use of counter fit products.
We consider the frame to be one complete part and the jaws are not sold separately at this time. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Oakley USA only ships within the US and US Territories and only accepts credit cards that are based from the USA. International credit cards aren't accepted to place orders. You can view our payment method policy here http://www.oakley.com/customer-care/ordering.

In this case, we would suggest contacting our local Office in your region which can be located at the following link: http://www.oakley.com/customer-care/worldwide-offices

    Best regards,

    OAKLEY, INC.

So in summary if you want to self customise Racing Jkt or Jawbones...........you cant unless you decide to buy off ebay or break your glasses and get discounted new frames via customer services.
Not the best in customer service...The customer is wrong
