705 edge advice

ive just bought a second hand edge 705. wow, amazing capcity but im experiencing a few probs and wonder if theres easy answeres please
i dont seem able to delete recent locations which includes the guys home i bought it off, i select delete, it asks am i sure, i say yes but its still there. ditto local cafe and a few other of his marked locations. any ideas?
nor can i change bike info, i went in and changed it to my bikes but then was looking further into other stuff and it suddenly died on me, blipped for no reason. when i switched back on it had reverted to his bikes. ive tried all the keys to find an instant exit key i may have pressed in error but cant find one.
so..... why did it just die? it didnt make the 'im switching off' sound it should have, just cut out. i thought blinkin heck its one of those that doesnt tell you when the battery is dying but i switched back on and the battery is good
i also see the weatherproof cover on the back is missing and it looks to have some
discolouration, i wonder if water ever got in? can i buy a new rubber lug?

I would suggest a hard reset, which should remove all the settings, but not saved ride data. "To hard reset the unit turn the unit off, hold down the mode button and turn the unit on. When the unit asks if you want to erase all user data, select yes. Apparently this can resolve some issues that may cause unexpected crashes/shutdowns. I've had the unit crash when I've loaded an invalid route file.0 -
Can you up load maps off map my ride ? or is bike route toaster better ?0

I prefer BRT as you can create courses rather than Routes which have more waypoints and calc quicker. You do loose "turn left into High Street" type messages but for me they work better.
Also look at OSM maps rather than paying for Citymaps. I have OSM for UK and recently went to Belgium, simply loaded up the BeNeLux OSM maps and worked fine - all for free.0 -
I am a fan of ridewithgps.com - saves as routes not courses, but easiest and most accurate I have found for creating new routes and allows turn by turn directions.0
