Duff spoke magnet or wheels of cheese?

Hey all,
Fitted a new computer to my commuting steed last night (having previously not bothered with one) & this morning i'd barely got started when I heard the unmistakable sound of magnet on sensor - this happened continually whenever I either stood up & sprinted away from lights or hit a patch of rough ground. The computer in question is a basic Blackburn Atom sl which does have quite an agricultural looking spoke magnet (tightened as far as it will go), wheels are basic Alex rims on unbranded hubs & don't seem excessively out of true or in any way wobbly....
So, Is the magnet pants & keeps slipping round due to it's bulk & then twangs the sensor, or - are my wheels as stiff as soft cheese, and any force exerted on them forces them to momentarily "pringle" bringing the magnet into contact with the sensor before springing back into shape whistling nonchalantly??
Cheers,
John
