I got mine from Lloyds Chemist for a tenner. Downside for me is that the main display is the time and the HR figure is a smaller number in the right hand corner. I need to wear my reading glasses to read it, which isn't practical while on the bike.

Been 100% reliable though as long as the sensor contacts are moist (I lick them when I put the chest strap on) You can scroll through current, max, min, average HR. I've thought I could mount it on the bars for use on a turbo, when reading glasses wouldn't be a problem.

Lack of a turbo is more of an issue though
  • IME cheap heart rate monitors are false economy, I went for years buying a succession of cheap/ budget HR monitors which always failed to deliver one way or another. I've finally bought a Polar HR and quite frankly it's worth the money. Furthermore, I probably spent more buying budget ones, than if I had just shelled out in the first place!
I compared Amazon and Polar's own website and got a basic level FT4, which a quick google search has brought up for less than £70 a min ago!
