My parents live there and I grew up just down the A4 in Woolhampton (although I've not lived there for 15 years).
There's not much to tell really. It's just a standard small home counties town. Nothing terribly exciting going on. There's a bit more going on in Newbury (where my brother lives), and the towns have almost merged into one.
But in general it's a pretty decent place to live for a family. You'll need to drive everywhere though. There's lots of country roads for cycling though.
I can try and answer specific questions, but I've been in Cardiff for 15 years.
Are you working for Vodafone? Half the people round there seem to work for them.
Yeah, the Kennet has a pretty good reputation. They get people going to Oxbridge from there. Or if you want private schools, you're spoiled for choice (I went to them).
