I managed to annihilate the graphics drivers by doing a kernel update the other day. Irritating, but not the end of the world. This evening, I changed a boot option to load it into text mode when it booted, so that I could fix the graphics drivers, then reboot it normally and have lovely graphics.
Except it didn't boot into text mode. Oh no. It booted normally, into full graphics mode, with the driver working perfectly.
I have no idea how. It shouldn't have happened, at all. Ah well, it works.

The best way of learning is to break things, and learn from it. Of course, if you're happy in your ignorance, then continue as you were...0 -

those will be your standard/generic drivers being loaded automatically by a restore partition... Or something like that.

The generic drivers were the problem, they fail for my 8 year old card, so i had to replace them... The kernel update brought them back.0
