Ooooooh yes!
Not built one of these since I was a young person. Spotted it on offer in town today and figured why not.
As I'm currently bikeless, it should give me a break from the xbox.

i used to make these when I was younger, had the little air spray gun and everything!
Made a huge spitfire...took ages!0 -
Yay, bargaintastic.
(mind you Revell were never as good as Hasegawa)Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -
used to make these too. some revell models but mostly some japense make ones, taiko or something.
i gave up after it ended up spending more than £40 for one model.
me and my brother made a huge titanic model. took a couple of months to complete but it won us a prize at a small show in Poland0 -

Airfix were king when i was a kid and Revell were for poor people. But 'd be surprised if Airfix are still making glue models these days, or even in business .

Yes, it was Airfix all the way when I was a nipper too. They are still in business, doubt they'll do the same numbers but you can still buy them http://www.airfix.com/
I've opened the box to have a look at the kit and from the looks of it, you may well be waiting some time for the finished product. I think it would have been easier to make the original product. :shock:0 -
Gets me thinking about James May's 1:1 scale spitty.
The kid in me thinks mmm but I prefer Lego might have to have a look and see what mega complex kits are out there as I never managed to make/finish one properly as a kid.
Any one recomend a Technics one that might suit the bill?0 -
I was looking at some legos today as it happens. There are some that look pretty impressive, but they are bIoody well expensive, and don't look to be all that complicated.
Of course, that said, if you've got a few bob spare how about giving this bad boy a try?
Almost 4,500 pieces :shock:0 -
When I worked in a toy shop, about 5 years ago (Possibly the best job ever! Demonstrating toys 8) ) We had a 'grown up' store on the floor above, which sold Airfix kits, army figure things, boats, planes etc. The fact that it was a store in it's own right, may show you how much Airfix is still going strong.
Admitedly, I think it's on the decline, but you'd be surprised how many people buy one for 'nostalgia's' sake.
Definitely want to see pictures when it's done. I'm curious if your eye for detail in bikes carries through to planesIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

I used to love making model aircraft when I was younger, they got broken though when we discovered that football was fairly easy to play in the bedroom.0

i was so happy when i got a shelby gt350kr for christmas as a revel model. absolutely loved making it and was by far the best present i got (okay, maybe the £1100 was better, but the revel was more fun cause ive had to spend the money on sensible things)
managed to very nearly finish it before coming back to uni. brilliant present0 -

The Vulcan was gut rumbling power and the Tornado was a screaming speed machine.Northwind wrote: It's like I covered it in superglue and rode it through ebay.0 -

Don't worry Andy, you can also get Barbie kits if you're feeling a little left out.0 -
A mate of mine is obsessed with these kits, I have to admit I'm tempted but I'm resisting, it seems to work a bit like heroin...The Northern Monkey wrote:oh and btw... my dad helped design the radar and the nose cone on the Tornado

Worked for a cement company? My uncle worked on the antenna at Ferranti, to this day he's still pissed off at GEC for blaming them for the blue circle/foxhunter mess.Uncompromising extremist0
