Have recently noticed that on the top right of fork on my rockhopper 08, where the "lock out" is has started to have fluid gathering on /around it.
( RockShox Tora 302 SL with 100mm of travel and 32mm Cr-Mo stanchions. Alloy steerer and a Mag lower. Coil spring with preload adjust. Lockout with rebound adjust.)
Just wondering what it could be, maybe a seal lose or broken around there, heres the picture

Around the black centre/silver part, had a feel and feels "oil" like.
what advice as having a fork service i know it very exspencive and just wondering what it could be.

Have you had them upside down?0

no they havnt been upside down, as you see from the pictures the fluid is around the "lock out" turnkey and mainly coming from the black middle part of it.
Also have noticed when i clean away the fluid that very tiny air bubbles sometimes come.
so any ideas?
Need to find out how major the problem is tbh, as dont really fancy taking it down to LBS and having to pay over £100 quid for a fork service considering the fork cost itself)

Give TF Tuned a call - they're friendly and will probably be able to advise you.

Sounds very similar to this problem:

The following shows how to fix it for moco forks, not sure if the lock-out forks have the same issues. See here:

thanks for the links,
I guess the best option is to first work out if it just a O ring issue or a bigger issue.
Question though.
How long does the warrenty last for rockshox forks as i wondering if it might be covered, if not then i havnt got much to lose as i dont fancy paying LBS £75 quid for a service then a further £25 to take the forks out and put back.......
On that issue of taking them out, do i need to totally remove the forks before doing any work on them?
or can i just leave forks how they are then remove the metal ring and inspect the O ring?
advise allways wellcome and il post pictures as i go though it, so you can say "OMFG dont remove that you fool or your bike will fall aprt" 8)London2Brighton Challange 100k!

All you need is some circlip pliers and either a 24mm socket or a decent adjustable spanner. some 15w suspension fluid (and 5w if you are planning to replace the fluid) which is cheapest bought from a motorbike shop - This is a very easy job.
You don't need to remove the forx, but if you plan to change the suspension oil at the same times and clean the seals, then it can be easier. But its swings and roundabouts. Personally I find removing and refitting the forx more of a faff than dealing with the bike that is attached to the forx, when trying to drain and clean.
If your forx are under 6 months old then definitely an LBS "quality issue" if they are under a year old I'd still get them to fix. beyond 12 months, then have a go yourself.0
