Do people really believe that you have to somehow "earn" the right to wear a GB kit? Surely the "prize" for the blood, sweat and tears or training to be selected for the GB squad is in the medals and knowing that you're at the top of your game rather than wearing a red, white and blue strip of lycra?! What about the fat knacks who wear the England footy top down the pub or shopping at the weekend?

  • it would seem that Team GB receive part of their funding by selling branded shirts.... therefore by purchasing one of these shirts, you are "earning" the right to wear it. Your blood, sweat and tears may not have been used to earn it as a cycling deity, however, you may have used the blood sweat and tears to earn the money to buy it.

People buying this kit indirectly fund the team.... that gives them the right to wear it.

Absolutely. And what about people who dress up in ex military gear, for whatever reason, perhaps for battle re enactments or whatever, should they not be allowed to dress up as a General because they have done their bullet dodging time at the front?

The racing club here in Toledo has their own team kit, has had for years, and most members buy it and wear it most of the time. The club makes a few dollars on each one and that's OK. I used to see all kinds of people wearing all kinds of pro team stuff in years past but it seems, these days, everyone wears a jersey from whatever club or group the belong to. There are more than a few bike groups around here and they all have their own kit. Custom jerseys are everywhere, it seems, and easily availablle from many companys.
