Hi guys

I need to change the rear brake cable (inner) on my Boardmman Team Carbon, it has internally routed cables, can anyone let me know how to do this without losing the cable inside the top tube, does the outer cable run through the top tube or is it just the inner that goes through and meets the outer the other side. :?: Any advice would be gratefully received

  • IIRC the outer runs through the whole way, so pull out the old one and thread the new one in.

If you struggle I believe you can pull the rubber boots out of the frame and use an old spoke to help hook it out.

If you want to check, drop the rear wheel out and see if you can push the cable out of the shifter from by the brake caliper. You can't do that without a full outer run.

erm No. only the inner cable runs through the top tube. you wont loose it because there is a small guide tube inside. just poke it in one end and itl come out the other, you might have to jiggle it a bit before it will emerge. i know because i have this bike  there are no rubber boots anywhere so dont try and pull anything out of the frame, its all one piece, dont go poking spokes about either :o
  • Thanks guys, will give it a try later on
