Singlespeed chain tensioner help!

I'm using a SMR chain tensioner on the Boardman, but when I really crank on the pedals, the tensioner slips causing the chain to go slack and me go over the bars! I can't take any more links out of the chain as I can't get it back onto the chain ring, and if i use the tensioner the other way (so it's pusing the chain up instead of pulling it down) then it doesn't hold the chain taught enough. Any ideas guys?!
Pic below is how I've got it set up at the moment.

tighten some bolts up so it does not slip?
fit a half link.
fit a bigger small or big cog."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I've done the bolt up as tight as I physically can. Like I say it only slipped when I really cranked on the pedals, but I've lost confidence in it now.
I'm not fitting a larger chain ring or rear gear as I'm happy with the ratio I've got now.
Fit half a link? Wtf?Trek Remedy 7 2009

yep you can get half links so reducing your chain by 1/2" rather than 1"
"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

put a half link in and change it so it pushes up.
shorter chain will be easier to tension and pushing up will give you more chain wrap.
Also are you using SS specific rings/sprockets and chain?0 -
tesnsion the chain up instead of down?
I had the tension seeker, and it did exactly as you say until I tensioned up.
Not sure if you can do it with the model you have though?0 -
I can tension it upwards, but it doesn't create enough tension to keep the chain tight!Trek Remedy 7 2009
