I am looking for a new small pump to take with me on my road bike... I am looking for something fairly small (fitting in a saddle bag would be good)

I know something this small wont be all that great but all I want is a "get me home" solutions.

Thoughts??

Thanks
Paul

I've got a Topeak Micro Rocket and a Race Rocket. Former will 'get you home, later will pump to just under 100psi. A mate uses an Airbone pump that's so small it looks like a CO2 cartridge! I've seen him use it and get home with the result so perhaps this is the sort of thing you want?

The head on my Toppeak Micro-Rocket broke leaving me stranded. I've replaced it with a Lezyne Alloy Drive Mini Pump which attaches via a flexible hose. I used it last week for the first time when visited by the p-fairy and it did a grand job.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

+1 for the Leyzyne alloy drive, well made, lots of nice colours to match your bike / kit. Works superbly with the flexible hose, I got the hose with the pressure gauge in it so I can see how much pressure I'm getting. I have total confidence in it for doing the job.

+1 for the Leyzyne with pressure hose, I can get my tyres up to 100psi no problem with this, I could get more but 100 does me to get home.
  • cool - thanks, I will have a look at the Lezyne

Had a look for leyzyne with hose and pressure gauge but couldn't find. Could you point me in the right direction please.

Take your pick from the link below. I got mine from Condor Cycles a few weeks back - they were running a 20% discount promotion in their sale - not sure if still on offer.

The one I got is really neat and I've tried it out - practice only! Easily gets up to 100 psi and I reckon the flexible hose whilst perhaps not the most efficient could well save a valve head getting yanked off in a fit of pique at the road side!

I've noticed quite a few folks carrying their mini pumps in their jersey back pocket. Call me pessimistic but I reckon that's potentially a very dangerous move - if you take a tumble and land the wrong way, a pump could inflict quite a bit of damage. My bike may not look so neat with the pump and bracket, so be it!!
