Doing JOGLE in May - got 6 out of 8 nights sorted
but struggling for hotels in Chester and Ayr/Cumnock area.

Any suggestions/recommendations welcome.

There are 12 of us, so 6 twin rooms, ideally or a decent hostel/bunkhouse etc.
Don't want a pit, or a palace, but something in between!

cheers, in advance.

I stayed at Chester Backpackers for my overnight in Chester. Easy to get to and the town centre is literally five minutes away so there's somewhere to grab food etc. (big supermarket or a Wetherspoons etc if you wanted pub grub).

If there's a group of you it'd be ideal, I was the only one in when I went! Comfortable lounge, decent kitchen and adequate dorms.

There's a terrific bike shop just down the road from it too, The Edge Cycleworks - was helped enormously by Ellis, fitting a new groupset at no notice after showing me just how close I was to losing a crank!

Cheers for that - CBP was on my shortlist. With that
recommendation, I'll go ahead and book it.

Anyone stayed in Ayr or Kilmarnock ot Cumnock on
    a JOGLE/LEJOG?

  • I live in Cumnock and the Mercat Hotel is in the middle of the town. The accomodation is above the bar which will be noisy at weekends but should be ok through the week. The main taxi rank is at the front of the hotel and will add to the noise level at weekends. If you give me a better idea of your planned route I could give you some suggestions of places to stay.
    I might be fat.......but I'm slow!

Tried the Mercat, but they couldn't accommodate us all (there are 12 of us).
All sorted now - the Royal Hotel said they'd take us all and gave us a good rate
    - £50 each, B&B plus evening meal - bargain, cheers Craig at the Royal!!
