I am going to build a pair of wheels for a mate, he has bought Industry 9 hubs (yum yum yum gorgeous) Stans Crest rims and DT spokes for me to play with. I was surprised when I saw the Stans rims they look and feel a bit cheap and they have no eyelets.
Thats not a problem I have built wheels on non eyelet rims before the problem is the inside of the spoke holes feel rough and unfinished with several holes on both rims having swarf hanging off obviously from when they were drilled. Is this going to cause a problem when I tension the spokes I can see me having to do a fair bit of retensioning after the first few rides when the swarf and rough edges get hammered flat by the nipple.
Anyone had experience of building with Stans rims, I am using brass nipples are they tough enough to just push the swarf out of the way when I tension the spokes. Is there any way to clean up the inside of the spoke hole.
