I've been trawling the web trying to find a screenshot of this particular map but to no avail. Wondered if anyone out there in Radar Land has first hand experience of using this particular set-up.
How does it compare with, say, Google Maps?
Thanks for any help.

go here...
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=6299
click "view map"
click "Click to view a detailed, interactive map."
you'll get the real map to explore
not as detailed as google, but no internet connection required
i've used it round europe, found it very handy/comprehensive, only tried the autorouting in uk but was pleasantly surprised to find it recognises postcodesmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Thanks for that SunGod. Weird - when I searched on the Garmin website it directed me to the 2009 version and just told me it was discontinued!!
Am I right in assuming that, when you create a route using Bike Hike or Map My Ride it converts it to this format? It's just that I like to head down country lanes whenever possible and most don't seem to be shown (which, given it covers the whole of Europe, is hardly a cause for complaint!!)0 -
Have been using this setup since December and it has all my local country lanes right down to the single track ones. It depends to what level you have the map zoomed in as to what is shown but it really is an amazing bit of kit.
I use it mainly to navigate around a route which I have already uploaded from Memory Map but you can also just input where you want to go and it will sort the quickest route just like a car satnav.0 -

on the gps you can also set how much detail is shown, i don't think the web demo has this adjustment
set for maximum detail it shows far more than i've ever needed
you can load gpx files with routes, haven't tried these websites but it is a common format so i'd think they'll export rides to gpxmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0
