I am pretty sure there must be one however I can't see it and I have bothered to look.

Something that lists the bike components in order of what typically is the heaviest and what are typically the easiest, quickest, cheapest to replace to get an instant bike diet on.

Cheapest and easiest is tyres first, main weight shedding comes from wheels and forks if you have low end stuff...but not cheap by any means.
  • Thank you Stu. I have just had new tyres fitted... Panaracer Trailrakers which I appreciate are not everyone's cup of tea from the reviews however they seem to fit my needs for a forest trail tyre and country byeways tyre and I won't be road riding the bike. So anyway they won't be changed any time soon.

The wheels are standard Giant XTC 3.5 wheels and the shocks are RockShox Tora 302 so there is potential to change them both at some point. I am guessing things like seat posts and handlebars over to carbon do little to reduce weight.

Lots of potential top save, but won't be cheap if you want good kit.

You could shed 1.5lb from your forks and another 1.5lb-2lb from your wheels/tyres if you went to a proper tubeless set up with tubeless ready tyres.

Changing seapost/seat/bars/stem can save a decent amount but will be pricey...eg a few hundred quid for good lightweight stuff....but again you could shed 1lb+.

You'll notice the weight drop from wheels a tyres most due to less rotational weight, lighter forks will quicken up your steering.
