Carbon forks, will it make for a more comfortable ride?

I am thinking of changing the aluminium forks on my aluminium framed bike for carbon forks. Partly this is to save weight, but will it also make for a more comfortable ride? Do carbon forks really flex a little bit more?

My experience of aluminium forks is that they have the ability to be flexy and harsh at the same time, so you should find that a carbon fork will improve feel and handling as well as saving some weight.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Carbon forks should reduce some of the road buzz which you might currently feel through the handlebars on roughly surfaced roads with aluminium forks.
  • I must admit i like carbon forks. They seem to damp a lot of the buzz if you use thinner tyres.

Tyres and tyre pressures will have more of an effect on comfort.

Exactly. It is a common failing amongst newconmers to road cycling to pump their tyres up rock hard.

Some money spent on gel bar tape or road mitts might be money better spent.
  • Have a read of this and then get some 25mm tyres.
