Well, I liked them now, but I've changed my mind, I now hate them.

Just kidding. There's some really nice stuff there. :)
  • As were all sharing.. check mine out..

I've never actually tried taking any pictures of people on bikes, id much rather be riding than taking a picture..

Anyways, take a look - comments on all pics welcome :)

Wow, you 3 are really good.

I'll get mine up as soon as I get around to getting the film developed :P
  • mrfmilo,

The bmx photo's are not my cup or tea, but I think the first set, in the woods and the landscape shots, could benefit from increased contrast, or at least increasing the shadows. This would make them feel sharper and more atmospheric.

Of course, this may not be what you want at all, but i like high contrast landscapes, as you can see from my gallery.

you can find some of mine through my sig too.

  • yeehamagee,

I like the landscape shots. Are you using HDR on some of them?

I'm going up to North Wales end of the month for a week, still not allowed to ride though, so will be walking snowdon and others with my camera equipment. Hopefully I'll get some decent images.

  • Ollie lucas.

You portrait mode landscape shots may be better if cropped so the horizon in not in the middle of the image. Try taking it up or down to around a third of the final image.

    Cheers dude.
The only landscape shots using HDR are (if I remember rightly), the Menai bridge one (obviously  ) and the Afon Mawddach one.
There's some exposure blending, or grad filtering on some of the others, but not really HDR.

The South Stack sunset one, for example, was done by bringing down the sky exposure nearly two stops in RAW. I had to do that, because otherwise either the landscape was underexposed, or the sky was burnt out.
My camera has massive headroom into the highs, so I chose to expose for the foreground, and checked the histogram to make sure it hadn't clipped the sky, so I knew I could bring it back to what my eyes were seeing in RAW processing.

I prefer sports shots to landscape, but that's personal opinion i guess - cheers for the tips, will have a play around :)

And ta yeehaa, this is amazing: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eye_see_sound/5206639615/

I still really like the BMX shots you put up before, mrfmilo.

Well, there's a crew of us supposedly heading to the Nevis range in a couple of weeks. There's also a crew going to Les Gets a few weeks after, but I can't afford that right now

Ah cool, what it like there? (Nevis) I'm off to France in march for some boarding, would be good to continue it in the UK :)

    what software do you use?

I've been using lightroom for mac for several years.

I spend a lot of time fiddling around with images before I'm happy with them, if I'm happy with them at all that is.

Went out to a local beach recently, took 200 or so shots and kept 10. Mind you, I took over 100 trying to get the break of the wave right.... I failed.

You want me to go take pictures there?
I could get to Nant in no time, but I can probably reach Glentress quicker than Cwmcarn

Some nice shots from you guys!

Here are some of my favourites.

I only just got a computer powerful enough to do HDR at Christmas believe it or not, so all my shots previous to that are pretty much unedited apart from straightening up and the odd crop here and there. Let me know what you think.

There's some really nice stuff there. I love the snowy landscapes.
Don't worry about HDR too much, it can be more of a stylistic thing than essential.
A bit of levels manipulation in photoshop is all that's needed 9 times out of 10.
