Cannondale Vs Trek Vs Giant

Hi all,
Newbie on here so go easy! I have been riding now for a few years on a very clapped out mountain bike and have decided I want to get a road bike. After hours of research I have nailed it down to three possibles:
2011 Cannondale Synapse alloy 105
2011 Trek 2.1
Giant Defy range
As I am buying this through the C2W scheme I have picked these as they are under the £1000 limit (well, the Trek isn't, but I've found somewhere stocking it for less).
I am about 6' 5" so need a big frame - any thoughts? I am planning on going to a bike shop that stocks all three but wanted to sound out opinions first as there seems to be very lfew reviews of any of these models online.
Much appreciated!
PS. Have ruled out Boardman bikes becuase of the 'Halfords effect'...

Ride as many as you can and see which one feels best to you.
I'm 6'4" and ride a 61cm framed Bianchi, but it's not all about your overall height, it's the lengh of the component parts that are important.XC: Giant Anthem X
Fun: Yeti SB66
Road: Litespeed C1, Cannondale Supersix Evo, Cervelo R5
Trainer: Bianchi via Nirone
Hack: GT hardtail with Schwalbe City Jets0 -
I have the 2010 Trek 2.3 and I've been really happy with it.
Can't comment on the others though.
It'll be Shimano 105 on it right? Again I've found that totally acceptable. I have the 1.2 for commuting and that has Sora and there's a reasonable difference.
I've found it to be good value.0 -
Hi Steve,
I have been riding a Giant Defy since last summer and cannot fault it, however as other people have said your best bet is to go and test ride a few in your local bike shop.
Good luck and welcome to the forum0 -
Hi Steven
I'm 6 ft 5 and ride a Madone - I have the 64cm frame, though, which you don't get with the 2.1. You have to go up to the 2.3. Best to test ride/get a fit (IMO, a fit is pretty important when you're our size...). Good luck!__________________________________________

I have a Giant Defy and really like it.
Those three bikes are really good and you've probably done the best thing by narrowing it down to those three.
Try all three and you'll know yourself what one is for you You'll not go wrong0
