I'm going to be building up my new frame at the weekend which has internal routing for the rear brake cable.
Is this a simple case os pushing the cable through the frame and connecting the outers at each end or is it more complicated than that?? does the cable need some kind of sleeve through the frame?
any info would be appreciated, if its too complicated it'll be going to my LBS!

  • It varies from make to make. A friends Bianchi has a sleeve fitted anothers Isaac TT frame had none, routing was like playing darts in the dark.

  • My Orbea has internal cabling for the rear brake, the best advice if there's no sleeve is to remove the seat post and there will be a hole where the head tube joins. You can then shove your finger in there and help the cable on it's way out. Mines the old type, though, which runs the cable outer right the way through.
