BB30 to Hollowtech Conversion

I'm converting the bottom bracket of my Cannondale Synapse (2006 model) from BB30 to the 'standard' to allow me to use a Shimano triple chainset. I don't need advice (or abuse!) regarding the pros and cons of using a triple but would like to know if it is better to use adpator cups that utilize the BB30 bearings in situ (such as made by Wheels Mfg) or to get rid of the BB30 bearings completely, insert the specific alloy sleeve into the bottom bracket which then allows me to use standard Shimano external bearings.
My feeling is to go for the former, and if it's lousy, then go for the latter (which is a great deal easier than the other way round.

3rd choice is KCNC BB30 Adapter Road 68mm. Rather than using the existing BB30 bearing & adaptors, it fits straight in the BB30 frame, but takes a standard 24mm crank.0

I'd go for the KCNC as it is more likely that you'll get bearing alignment correct as there is less compounding of any potential tolerance errorsMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

KCNC was the one I was planning on using on the boardman.
It means that there are no bearings pressfit like normal BB30 bearings which should hopefully eradicate any creaking and all you need to install is a hollowtech 2 BB tool.0 -
yrh, i like the look of the kcnc..........and its shiny which is always a bonus!0

Must say that KCNC BB looks very good value, stainless bearings etc. Makes the plastic Shimano item look a bit overpriced :?Jens says "Shut up legs !! "

This a BB86 Bottom bracket for HT2 which is a different standard. Likewise Pressfit 30 is another - both of which are superior to BB30 IMO as they are better engineered.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Sorry for the bad info Bit of a minefield this BB thing !Jens says "Shut up legs !! "

Which solution did u go for? Did u try the KCNC bb30 adapter? Thinking of getting one but can't find much about their bearings durability.0 -
Not sure the sleeve insert is a great idea, it'll need fixing in place with loctite so removal will be tricky should you ever want/need to take it out. Personally I'd look at the rotor/Praxis works/kcnc solution to convert to ht2.
Just seen the date of the original post, never mind!ARTHUR
